My first entry

Hello everybody, yesterday i can't sleep and that fits very well for this exchange because i finally drew my entry. I feel my presentation was very short... well...My name is Benjamin, I'm a stage and costume designer, ocasionally an illustrator not a profesional but i try :D I principally work in theater and I love it! I'm really happy to be part of this moly exchanges and enjoy them so much!
MMM I think this presentation is already short jajajaja! But words in english are not my best! Good luck and Happiness for all of you! Oh I forget, Alecia I think i need an adress XD...

new artists, new rotation order

When we first started this group, Ea rearranged the rotation order by continents, so the molys wouldn´t have such a long way to go. So I´d like to suggest to move Alecia Gatlin (USA) to fill in between Benjamin and Tania, for example. And I could send on directly to Rins! What do you think?

hello everyone!

Thanks for having me. I havent bought a moleskine yet but i cant wait to participate. Its my second moly group (hi again Jen!). But something went wrong in the first so i havent seen someone-else's moly yet. It looks like i dont have to worry about that in this group. And all of your work looks wonderful! Its a cool idea to have all of yr work in my book one day : ).
I'm not sure though where i can find the rotation order and adresses.

Feeling out of touch with the group?

There is a an unfortunate limitation to Blogger that effects communication in the moly_x_portrait groups. Comment notification only allows ten email addresses. Our portrait groups have 15 members, so 5 people miss out on email notifications of comments left on this blog.

Go to upper right of blog, select customize>settings>comments>and scroll down to comment notification email if you are wondering if your email address made it on the list. If you didn't make it on the list, please try to read the blog regularly. Also, if someone could set this group up with cBox, this would be a helpful communication tool. To check it out go to moly_x_portrait1 and scroll down to the bottom of the page. I can't do it. Only one free cBox per email address.

FYI: All of the group's email addresses are available to the group through customize>settings>permissions, in case someone wants to do a group email.

I am checking in to make certain that your group is moving along smoothly, and that everyone is happy. There are many moly_x groups that have stalled and are withering. There are many people who are interested in joining a portrait group, but first I want to be sure that all the people listed on the blog are interested and participating.Please write to me or post to the blog and let us know if you will continue in this group or not. Sudjino´s book

so this is sudjinos/anastasiyas book so far. first her own work, than comes ea, then me. The basic idea was to draw her sitting somewhere, lost in thought. picked up ea´s flower theme and painted a huge dandelion. I used a random photo on flickr for sudjino´s posture ( i can´t it find right now). By the way, i marked all the participants as friends on flickr, if you search my photostream with the tag "moly portrait" there should appear some portraits. I did send some more pictures with my moly, which should still be with juanita.

I´m sending these two off by the end of the week!

UPDATE May 6th : Because of new members and thus change of rotation i have sent these molys to rins yesterday!!

Lidia's Book

Draw in Lidia's book - (and the reference photo) Mixed media (Pitt -artist pen and acrylics). Well that time I don't make a paint, because I wont use line and transparent colors, I use my acrylics like watercolors. I hope you enjoy Lidia :-) The Juanita's book is the next :-)

Care and maintenance of moleskine exchange groups

Dear exchange group members - I have been mailing Marty about Patti's lost book (care of AWOL Anne Harding), inactive exchange group members, downsizing, etc. As a result of our correspondence a discussion thread has been opened on the moly_x Flickr group (link to the group can be found in the sidebar) - please check out the discussion and add your thoughts and observations.

I have emailed Vanessa (USA) to ask whether she is still a part of the exchange, and will let you all know as soon as she gets back to me. Otherwise Ramires will be posting his book directly to Tania. Ramires - if you are in contact with Vanessa, please let the group know.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR BOOKS TO ANYONE UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THEM IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO POSTING. I urge you all to get email addresses (other than flickr mail) for the person preceding and following you in the exchange, as well as a posting address for the person following you, if you haven't done so already. I also urge all members in the exchange to follow this blog, check in regularly, and post progress reports on their work.

Not everyone has posted links to photos we can use as reference - PLEASE DO SO ASAP! Everybody taking part in the exchange needs to have access to reference photos of you, and lack of easy access to photos will stall the work on your book!

To make this blog more easily navigable for all members, I urge you to TAG YOUR POSTS with your own name, and other appropriate tags - "art", "portrait gallery", "mail rotation", etc.

Posting and commenting on the blog, keeping in touch via email, messengers, google talk, etc., will keep us all motivated and help the group stay active, as well as providing inspiration and new friends for us from all over the world. :)

Downsizing the group and tracking books

I've reduced the list of artists (and rearranged the order of Ramires and Lidia), so we're down to 12 members of the group now.

I don't know what we can do about your book, Patti - I tried sending Marty Harris an email and a Flickr-mail, but he hasn't responded to either.

Could everyone please check in in comments and tell us where the books are now? My book is with Jenny, as far as I know, and I haven't received Calvin's book from Sudjino yet.

Unresponsive members

Please correct me if I'm wrong

- it seems as though Anne Harding, Katy Brandt and Jena Marks have all dropped out of this exchange. As far as I can make out, none of them have either posted to the blog, sent out books of their own, or responded to members wanting to send books on to them.

Do we just remove them from the list and continue with 11 members, or should we try to find 3 new people to take their places?
